So, A Priest Walks Into A Restaurant...

So my mom, kiddies and I went out to eat at our favorite family restaurant, Omega. We had just gotten seated when this moment played out..

  • Mom: *mouthing words at me*
  •  Me: "Whaaat? Huh??"
  •  Mom: *whispers* "Watch how you talk. There is a priest behind you."
  • Me: *whispers* "Ohhh shiiiit. Thanks for the warning."

Gotta love that my mom accepts me for who I am, mouth that could make a trucker blush and all.
(Well, for the most part anyways)

Coffee Chugging, Soccer Playing Mama...

I got some mad skeeeeeels right here, yo. Lol Yeah, I can't even pretend to talk like that. It irritates the hell out of me! Anyways, L had to miss soccer practice today and she was really bummed out so we went outside and had our own Soccer practice. I actually played soccer with her, full on running and kicking etc, while holding a full mug of coffee. (MUG of coffee, NOT a travel cup with a lid.) And. I. Didn't. Spill. A. Drop. Yeeeeeah, boooooy. LOL Gotta love the massive mist in front if us. Dare I say someone was dropping in to watch his granddaughter play soccer? <3
We had such a great time tho, and I really believe this will be one of those moments that she will look back on as she gets older. At least I hope it will be.

Cheesy Chicken Broccoli Braid

Quick, easy, and yummy are my 3 favorite qualities in a recipe. This has them all. It is perfect for a busy night when you want to just throw something together for dinner without taking up too much time. The kiddies scarf this one down,

A Fucking RING POP?!?

Ok, a small bit of  back story real quick. I have been losing weight like crazy (WOOO HOOO) and my crappy lil makeshift ring that I use in place of my wedding band keeps falling off. It'll fall off and I'll find it an hour later. Then it'll fall off again and I'll find it again. This morning however, it fell off and I couldn't find it anywhere. Yep. Officially gone. Sigh. So anyways, continuing on... Mr called me on his lunch break and I swear to you, this was our conversation:

  • Me: "I lost my fucking ring again. I think for good this time."
  • Mr: "Yeah, I saw that on facebook. We'll figure out something for another ring for you."
  • Me: "I'm not wearing a fucking twist tie on my finger, Mike."
  • Mr: "No? Well, how about a ring pop?"
  • Me: "Ummm.. No... "
  • Mr: "Why the hell not?"
  • Me: "Cuz I'd get hungry, eat the fucker and have no ring again. WAIT! Is that what I'm worth to you? A fucking RING POP??"
  • Mr: "Hey, it's better than nothing, right?"
  • Me: nope. wrong again. sigh... fucker.

HOE...

So, L was doing a crossword puzzle. ( I didn't know it at the time but it was on agriculture... Yeah, you see where this is going? ) This is the conversation that ensued:

L: "Mom... what's a hoe?"

Me: *spits coffee out, clutches painful part of jaw* "WHAT?"

L: "A HOE... HOOOOE, mom. Whats a HOE?" *giggle giggle*

Me: "You tell me, what do YOU think a hoe is?"

L: "Ummm." *giggle* "I don't know".

Me: "Yeah you do, cuz you're laughing. What do YOU think a hoe is?"

L: "A really weird person?"

Me:  *sigh* "Yes. Yes, that's it. But its also a garden tool... Lets not call anyone a hoe, ok?"

L: "Deal."

Lmfao! ♥ Have I mentioned how MUCH  I love my kiddies. <3

World Suicide Prevention Day

Won't you show your support by lighting a candle near or in your window at 8:00 tonight?  For those who have felt (myself included, at times) that there were no other options, for those that just couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. For those who suffered in silence, not knowing how to ask us to grab their hands and pull them out of the dark hole of despair that they were stuck in.

For the families and friends left behind with hearts shattered, struggling to understand. Why did they feel so alone... Why didn't they talk to us... Why didn't we see it... Was there something we could have done?

For those who are feeling that way right now. As you read this. I know the tremendous pain you are feeling. But I promise you this: there IS hope. Even when you cannot see it, no matter how hard you look. It's there. You just have to reach out. Please. If you need someone to help you find that hope, call 1-800-273-8255. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by calling.

I will be lighting a candle in my window for my dearly missed friend, Tariq, who left us entirely too soon. Who will you be lighting a candle for?

Breakfast Bake

Breakfast greatly varies in our house. Some days it's a quick bowl of cereal, or a couple pieces of toast, Most days it's some form of pancakes or waffles with turkey bacon. There are other days tho, where we just need to change it up a bit. Or we get tired of the same old, same old and that's when I scan through the file cabinet in my head looking for the "new old," you know, things we haven't done in a long time. One of those, dear readers, is the Breakfast Bake.

The Breakfast Bake takes on many different forms, also. Meat, (ham, sausage, bacon, whatevs) eggs, and cheese; Meat, eggs, veggies and cheese; eggs, cheese, and hash browns.. You get the picture. This particular variation is our current favorite. :)

Photo A Day: September

Without further ado, lets kick this challenge off.

9.1: "You, Now." (ugh. You asked for it. lol)
Fresh out the shower. LOL

**************************************************
I love you endlessly, my Superman

9.2: "Father"... This one was really hard for me... I wanted it to be special, but I have very few pics of my dad. He just wasn't a picture person, and I never thought I was going to lose him so soon. If I could go back, I'd take a Photo A Day, just. of. him. Anyways, onto my pic.

Having a "cuppa joe" with my dad. Ohhh how I miss you and wish I really could be having coffee with you, just like we used to . **************************************************
My friend, Jess.
9.3: "Far Away" This was a fairly easy one for me. My "far away" is my awesome friend Jess. She's not really all that far away, but just enough so that we don't get to see each other much. Over the 7 years that we have been friends, we have had some seriously awesome times. Some of my favorites times are of our "dark drives" that we used to take. They were great for getting through our anxious or stressful times in one piece. We'd jump in my van, stop at B.P. and get coffee, queue up a CD with just the right music, roll the windows down (especially during winter) find the darkest, curviest or tree lined road that we could, and just drive. No words were needed on those drives. We were, for those moments, free. I miss our drives.
