MY SOUNDTRACK

I am a music person. I LOVE the way that just the right song, at just the right moment can seem to become one with your very soul. The way that a song can make you happy, or sad, or even make you get up and jump around in your kitchen like a TOTAL jackass until you realize that your husband has walked in and is now laughing at you. Not that that has ever happened to me! Ok, maybe once.

I have always thought that our lives should have their very own soundtrack. Well, I DO have a blog, so guess what? Yep, my life is getting one, damn it! I think I'm going to start by posting songs that have real significance to me for one reason or another. You don't have to like them, after all, it is MY soundtrack. This page is a work in progress, and I'm sure I will be constantly adding to it as I think of other songs that I have forgotten.

This first song was the very first song that Brother Bear seemed to like. Whenever we would play this song when I was pregnant with him, he'd quit squirming around and just chill out. This continued even after he was born. All I Can Do Is Write About It by Lynyrd Skynyrd:

And this one was my sanity for a while when Brother Bearl was a baby. If he was fussy, all I had to do was hold him close and sing this to him and he would fall asleep before I was even half way through it. EVERY TIME. Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac:

If I had to choose one song for my son (or anyone, really) to live by? It would be this one for sure. Shinedowns version of Simple Man.

Now for  Sister Bear... Ohhhh my sweet daughter. I have some of the sweetest memories of holding her and singing her to sleep with this song:

This song will ALWAYS remind me of Sister Bear. I wish I could adequately describe the dance she did to this song every time it would come on, but really, you had to be there. She would imitate EVERY SINGLE move and... well, twitch the chick did in this video, but Sister Bear was like 4 so it was extra cute. Flyleaf, All Around Me:

This was another of Sister Bear's FAVORITE songs. (as well as mine, I LOVE the reference to The Shining for the video.) The Kill by 30 Seconds To Mars:

This one sums up how I feel a lot lately. Well, part of it does anyways: "I wake up, wanting you... but you are rarely there..." Sigh. anyways, without further ado, Here is Animal by Prick.

This one REEEEALLY gets me. UGH. Gotta love Nine Inch Nails.

And another by Nine Inch Nails:

Here are some songs that stir up some really strong emotions in me:

This one was a very important piece of some really awesome dark road drives that were taken by my friend Jess and I to clear our heads. Beside You In Time by Nine Inch Nails:

The City Lights by Umbrellas.

Bonfires by Blue Foundation:

Last Day On Earth by Marilyn Manson:

Rainy Monday by Shiny Toy Guns:

Now for a few songs that instantly chill me out. Because trust me, that's a good thing. :)

Drifting by 4 Non Blondes :

"I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah... I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now..." siiiigh. Yes. Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve:

Another good one... Who DOESN'T love this song! Come Undone by Duran Duran:
