My 10 year old daughter and I completed our very first 5K this weekend. We did the Color Vibe Run and I cannot even begin to tell you how much fun this was!
It was a bit long for Lucy as she rarely has the opportunity to randomly take a 3.1 mile stroll, but it was an awesome life lesson for her. One mile in and
she was already getting tired, and was worried about how far ahead our group was getting. I kept reassuring her that it was ok. That we were not racing and the goal for the day was to simply complete the course and have fun in doing so.
She perked up a bit when we went through the first color station and neon green colored powder was thrown our way. Before we even reached mile 2 she was exhausted. She kept asking if we could slow down and apologizing for needing to do so. Again, I reassured her that we could go as slow as she needed to.
Around mile 2 1/2 we were both pretty tired, but we kept going. I mean, there was nowhere else to go but the finish line! Lol The color stations became our push. Ooooooh look! The pink station is just a few minutes away! Let's go! And oooooh, blue!! Come on! Let's pick up the place!
We finished strong and she learned that it is OK to be tired, it was ok to slow down, but that the most important thing is to DIG DEEP and FINISH what you start.
This was truly an amazing bonding experience and as you see from the pictures, it was a whole lot of messy colorful fun. We cannot wait to do this again next year! ♡
